Scope:
Bouchard Girard, a firm of chartered professional accountants, combines more than 10 years of existence and nearly 30 years of expertise of its partners to serve Quebec SMEs. The firm offers customized accounting solutions focused on integrity, transparency, and sustainability. Integrating ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) factors into their accounting practice was an obvious choice for the Associates.
The mandate to support the company’s sustainable development approach consisted of a sustainability maturity diagnostic. This assessment established the starting point for identifying the challenges and, above all, the opportunities for improving the firm’s environmental performance.
Activities:
Familiarization with ESG and sustainable development concepts was the first step in this process. Participating members received training that helped them clarify and understand why environmental, social, and governance factors were becoming more and more relevant. The maturity diagnostic and stakeholder survey helped establish clear priorities for the firm and facilitated the communication of actions to the key players.
The momentum created by this mandate encouraged the Associates to continue working with Global Partner Solutions to implement their ambitious action plan. With the support of Bouchard Girard’s personnel, we completed and implemented the review of the Employee Code, the development of a customer satisfaction survey, the creation of an advisory committee, the definition of key performance indicators, and the setting up of a responsible purchasing guide.
Results:
Implementing the plan’s actions has demonstrated the Associates’ commitment to the sustainable development approach. Revising the Employee Code refreshed and updated information, while creating a purchasing guide standardized internal practices. As for the customer satisfaction survey, both customers and employees were pleased to note the importance the firm places on the quality of its service. Finally, employees were enthusiastic about having an advisory committee representing their interests and priorities.
All these actions resulted from stakeholder consultation and are at the heart of a deep-seated desire for continuous improvement. For the Associates, stakeholder engagement remains the most compelling achievement of this mandate.
Shantala joined GPSI’s team in 2022, following her post-graduate diploma in Environmental Management. She is responsible for the ESG Division and the corporate social responsibility strategy. Before joining GPSI, she held several management positions at Bombardier Aerospace as well as Galderma, a company operating in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. She has more than 15 years of experience in procurement, logistic, and production planning. The environment and sustainable development are undoubtedly her greatest passions.
